Battlement

Overview

Battlement is a web game that blends fast-paced action with large-scale strategy in a fantasy game of medieval warfare. Two teams of players compete for control of the battlefield. Teamwork is always helpful and often essential to victory, but at the same time, the action aspect of the game leaves plenty of room for the individual to shine.

Gameplay

The environment in Battlement is split into square tiles. Players spend energy to move and attack, and regenerate energy at a rate of 2 every second, on the second. A move from one tile to the next is instant, which lets players move as fast as they want in the short term, but in the long run everyone travels about the same speed.

Because there are very few limitations on short-term motion, player skills like coordination, speed, and reflexes are important, but it may be surprising to know that prediction is what wins the most fights. This is because a player can easily move 3-4 tiles before his opponents have seen and comprehended his first move. If you want to attack the enemy or dodge their attacks, you must act upon their moves before you see them move.

Strategy and Teamwork

If you think you've mastered the art of combat, don't think you know the entire game. The ability to effectively choose when and where to fight is as important as the fighting itself. Battlement is won by controlling all of the generators on the battlefield. Generators can only be captured in certain (flexible) order, which means that losing or declining to engage in the wrong battle can be costly in the context of the entire war.

Maps are large, so for best results players will coordinate with teammates they cannot even see. In fact, teamwork starts before the fighting begins, while players are choosing what class and abilities to use. Make the right choices before entering the battle, and victory will come easily.
